Mumbai: Director Chinmay Mandlekar is basking in the appreciation pouring in for his latest film, Governor: The Silent Saviour, which marks his second collaboration with acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee after the success of Inspector Zende. As audiences continue to embrace the film, Mandlekar has shared some memorable behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot, including an unexpected visit from filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
Recalling the filming of a major action sequence, Mandlekar said that safety remained the top priority throughout the shoot. The sequence involved fire effects and was filmed at a busy public location near Horniman Circle in Mumbai.
“Whenever a fire sequence is being filmed, the entire crew remains highly alert. Our action director, Shinde Sir, ensured that every safety measure was in place. Thanks to his extensive experience, the sequence was executed smoothly and safely. Shooting such a large-scale action scene in a crowded public area is always challenging, but the team handled it exceptionally well,” Mandlekar said.
The director also fondly remembered an unexpected moment that added excitement to the day’s shoot. While the crew was busy filming the action sequence, Rohit Shetty arrived at the location during a site visit for one of his own projects.
“While we were shooting, Rohit Shetty Sir happened to visit the area to scout a location. When he learned that an action sequence was being filmed, he came over to meet us. It was a special and encouraging moment for the entire team. Here we were, shooting a major action scene, and one of India’s most celebrated action filmmakers was standing right beside us. He wished us well, and that gesture meant a lot to everyone on set,” Mandlekar shared.
He added that moments like these are rare and memorable, especially when they occur naturally during the filmmaking process. According to the director, the team’s biggest satisfaction came from successfully executing the demanding sequence and bringing it to the screen exactly as envisioned.
Following their earlier collaboration on Inspector Zende, Mandlekar and Manoj Bajpayee have once again teamed up for Governor: The Silent Saviour, a film that has been receiving a positive response from audiences.
