District Magistrate Reviews Skill Development Mission, Directs Expansion of Training and Employment Opportunities for Youth

Gonda: A review meeting of the Skill Development Mission was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, with a focus on strengthening skill training programs and enhancing employment opportunities for the youth of the district.

The meeting reviewed the progress of various training initiatives being implemented under the Skill Development Mission and discussed strategies to connect a larger number of young men and women with employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities. The District Magistrate emphasized the need to provide market-oriented and industry-relevant training to help youth become self-reliant and economically empowered.

Addressing the officials, Ms. Niranjan directed the District Coordinator of the Skill Development Mission to intensify awareness and outreach efforts so that more eligible candidates can benefit from the available training programs. She stressed that skill development initiatives should be widely publicized across urban and rural areas to ensure maximum participation from aspiring youth.

The District Magistrate underscored the importance of providing high-quality training aligned with the interests of candidates and local employment potential. She said that training programs should equip participants with practical skills that enhance their employability and enable them to secure sustainable livelihoods upon completion of their courses.

Focus on Employment-Oriented Trades

During the meeting, the District Magistrate instructed officials to prioritize training in sectors with strong employment prospects. These include agriculture, automotive services, construction, electronics, food processing, media and entertainment, plumbing, handicrafts and carpet manufacturing, beauty and wellness, tourism and hospitality, information technology and IT-enabled services (ITeS), retail, and other employment-oriented trades.

She noted that training modules should be designed in accordance with industry requirements and market demand so that trained candidates can readily access employment opportunities. Emphasizing the importance of demand-driven skill development, she called for continuous assessment of local and regional job markets to ensure that training programs remain relevant and effective.

Coordinated Efforts Needed to Promote Employment and Self-Reliance

The District Magistrate directed officials from various departments to work in close coordination for the effective implementation of skill development schemes. She stated that a collaborative approach would help maximize the impact of government initiatives and create better pathways for youth employment.

She further instructed departments to prepare a comprehensive action plan aimed at linking trainees with jobs and self-employment opportunities. Such efforts, she said, would not only expand employment opportunities in the district but also contribute significantly to building a self-reliant and skilled workforce.

Highlighting the importance of accountability and performance tracking, Ms. Niranjan stressed the need for regular reviews and continuous monitoring of training programs. She called upon officials to ensure that the quality of training remains high and that trainees receive adequate support for placement and career advancement.

Detailed Discussion on Training Quality and Placement Strategy

The meeting featured detailed discussions on improving the effectiveness of skill development programs, enhancing training quality, increasing youth participation, and strengthening employment linkage mechanisms. Officials also deliberated on strategies to improve placement outcomes and ensure that trained candidates are successfully integrated into the workforce.

Among those present at the meeting were District Development Officer Aditya Tiwari, Project Director, DRDA Sushil Kumar Pandey, District Mission Manager, NRLM J.N. Rao, the District Employment Officer, District Skill Development Coordinator Ram Singh, Skill Development Manager Avinash Pratap Singh, Skill Development Manager Deepak Khare, and officials from various concerned departments.

The meeting reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to empowering youth through skill development and creating a robust ecosystem that supports employment generation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth in Gonda district.
