Lucknow: SGPGI celebrated Internationdal Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from all healthcare professionals including faculty, staff members and students today on 21st June.
The programme commenced early morning at lecture theatre, Library Complex. Dean, SGPGI Prof Shaleen Kumar introduced the Chief Guest Yogacharya Dr Ravindra Verma and his wife Mrs. Anchal Verma.
Ph.D. in Yoga, Dr Ravindra Verma is Yoga Educator & practitioner with over 30 years of experience in Yoga, Naturopathy and Physical Fitness. He is currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Yoga at Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University.
Director SGPGI, Padmashri Prof R K Dhiman welcomed the guests. Addressing the gathering, the Director highlighted the significance of yoga as a holistic approach to health and emphasized its role in enhancing mental resilience and improving overall quality of life.
He elaborated on the eight paths of Ashtang Yog i.e. Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
“These provide a complete path for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being,” he said.

Participants performed various yoga asanas, breathing exercises (Pranayama), and meditation techniques under the guidance of Yogacharya.
All the faculty, employees and students were encouraged to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for a healthier and more balanced life.
The event concluded with a pledge by the yog guru to all participants to “Keep our minds balanced; therein lies our self-development. I am committed to promoting peace, joy, and health—towards myself, my family, my work, society, and the world.”
Vote of thanks was proposed by CMS, SGPGI Dr. Devendra Gupta.
The celebration reflected the hospital’s commitment to preventive healthcare, employee wellness, and the promotion of healthy living practices in society.
