CM Yogi Directs MPs, MLAs to Finalise Development Priorities for PWD Action Plan

Gonda: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly to jointly determine the priority of development projects in their respective constituencies and prepare a comprehensive action plan for implementation under the Public Works Department (PWD) for the financial year 2026-27.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Commissioner’s Auditorium in Gonda, the Chief Minister held extensive discussions with public representatives from the Devipatan and Basti divisions, covering districts including Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Siddharthnagar. Representatives presented key infrastructure requirements, development proposals and public aspirations from their regions.

During the meeting, the Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department gave a detailed presentation on the proposals received from various districts. The Chief Minister instructed legislators to consult with MPs from their areas, scrutinise the proposals and submit a final priority-based list to the department to ensure effective and time-bound execution.

Emphasising that public representatives’ suggestions should receive the highest priority, Yogi directed officials to quickly consolidate the proposals and prepare a detailed implementation roadmap for necessary approvals.

The Chief Minister reviewed projects related to the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, state highway upgrades, construction of major and minor bridges, railway overbridges (ROBs), underpasses (RUBs), flyovers, road safety measures and black spot improvements. He also called for prioritising roads connecting district headquarters through four-lane corridors, improving connectivity to sugar mills, and linking remote areas with single-road access to major transport networks.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to balanced regional development, Yogi stressed the need to strengthen road connectivity in rural, border and Nepal-adjacent regions, including areas inhabited by the Tharu community. He instructed officials to ensure all road and bridge projects are completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards.

The Chief Minister warned that negligence or delays in development works would not be tolerated. He also directed authorities to accelerate road maintenance and repair programmes and ensure transparency and accountability in project execution.

Yogi said the proposed infrastructure projects would significantly enhance rural and urban connectivity, improve transportation safety and provide a major boost to agriculture, trade, industry and tourism. He further instructed that local public representatives should be actively involved in foundation-laying and inauguration ceremonies related to development projects.

The meeting was attended by several MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district officials, divisional commissioners and senior PWD officers from the Devipatan and Basti divisions.
