Lucknow: In a significant move to address concerns surrounding donation boxes at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple complex in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine allegations and rumours circulating on social media.
The decision comes after the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust requested a thorough and impartial investigation into claims being made regarding donation collections at the temple premises. The Trust maintained that a transparent inquiry is essential to establish the facts and prevent misinformation from spreading among devotees.
The three-member SIT comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IG Range Kiran S., and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan Kumar. The panel has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive probe and submitting its findings to the state government.
According to the Trust, misleading narratives being circulated online have the potential to damage the reputation of the revered pilgrimage site and undermine the faith of millions of devotees. The Trust described the allegations as a matter of serious concern and emphasized the need for an objective investigation to bring clarity to the issue.

Taking cognizance of the request, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the formation of the SIT with immediate effect. The team will examine all aspects of the matter, verify the facts, and present a detailed report to the government.
The state government has treated the issue as one closely linked to public faith and transparency, underscoring its commitment to ensuring that the truth emerges through a fair and credible inquiry.
