Zee Cinema, Zee Bollywood and Zee Studios Celebrate 25 Years of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha — The Film That Began a Legacy

Mumbai: A landmark film that redefined box office success and left an enduring imprint on Indian cinema completes 25 years this year. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha continues to remain one of the most iconic and emotionally powerful films in Indian cinematic history. On this special occasion, Zee Cinema, Zee Bollywood, and Zee Studios are celebrating the film’s remarkable journey and its lasting cultural legacy.

Released in 2001, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema. Set against the backdrop of the India–Pakistan Partition, the film portrayed a deeply emotional story of love, sacrifice, family bonds, and patriotism. Reflecting on the film’s legacy, lead actor Sunny Deol said that the character of Tara Singh created a timeless bond with audiences that has only grown stronger with time. He expressed gratitude for the continued love the film receives, calling it one of the greatest honours of his career.

Actress Ameesha Patel shared that Sakina remains one of the most cherished roles of her life and described the ongoing celebration of the film’s legacy as an emotional and deeply fulfilling experience.

Actor Utkarsh Sharma, who played an important role in the film, recalled that Gadar was his debut project and a major learning experience, expressing gratitude to the team and the audience for their continued support.

Director Anil Sharma added that the film was made with sincerity, emotion, and strong storytelling conviction, and it was the audience who elevated it beyond a film into a lasting cultural phenomenon.
