Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University Marks World Environment Day with Awareness and Plantation Drive

Amethi: Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University celebrated World Environment Day with a series of awareness and tree plantation programmes, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable development and the creation of a greener campus.

The event commenced with a plantation drive led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bhrigu Nath Singh, who planted a sapling on the university campus. Faculty members, officers, staff and students joined the initiative, underscoring the institution’s collective commitment to protecting the environment.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Singh emphasized that the university is dedicated to nurturing responsible and environmentally conscious human resources capable of contributing meaningfully to sustainable development. He stated that environmental conservation should not be viewed merely as a campaign but should become an integral part of daily life and personal conduct. He urged students and staff to adopt nature-friendly lifestyles and incorporate environmentally responsible practices into their routine activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Anoop Kumar highlighted pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. He stressed the need for greater environmental awareness and collective action to address emerging ecological concerns and ensure a sustainable future.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the university’s Registrar, Finance Officer, faculty members, administrative officials, employees and students. Participants collectively pledged to fulfil their environmental responsibilities and spread awareness about conservation and sustainability within society.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Madhuka Roy, who played a key role in organizing the programme and encouraging active participation in environmental initiatives.

The World Environment Day celebration reflected the university’s continued commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainable development and fostering a culture of ecological awareness among future aviation professionals.
