Lucknow: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh Police Headquarters on Thursday transferred 206 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank across the state. The large-scale exercise includes the transfer of nearly a dozen officers posted in Lucknow and is aimed at strengthening policing and administrative efficiency in various districts.
Among the key changes, Jitendra Kumar, who was serving in the Chief Minister’s security detail, has been transferred to Shahjahanpur. In his place, Vikas Kumar Jaiswal, currently posted in the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, has been assigned to the Chief Minister’s security wing.
The reshuffle has also brought new appointments to the Lucknow Police Commissionerate. Uday Pratap Singh II, who was posted in Gorakhpur, has been appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Lucknow. Similarly, Gaurav Upadhyay from Mahoba and Shubham Kumar from Ambedkar Nagar have also been posted as ACPs in the state capital.
Another notable change involves Rajesh Kumar Singh, who had earlier been transferred from the Chief Minister’s security unit to the Varanasi Commissionerate. He has now been reassigned to the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.
Meanwhile, Satish Kumar Rai, who was serving in Lucknow, has been transferred to the 6th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Meerut. ACP Abhay Kumar Mall, currently posted in Lucknow, has been shifted to Balrampur.

The extensive reshuffle comes as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to streamline law enforcement operations and optimize the deployment of police officers across districts and commissionerates.
Police officials said the transfers have been carried out keeping in view administrative requirements and operational priorities. The newly posted officers are expected to assume charge at their respective assignments shortly.
The latest round of transfers follows a series of recent administrative changes across various departments in Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening governance and improving public service delivery through strategic personnel deployment.
