Lucknow: La Martiniere College students Ashwin Chauhan and Devansh Vij delivered impressive performances on their home courts to secure places in the boys’ singles pre-quarterfinals of the AITA CS-7 Under-18 Tennis Tournament.
The tournament is being organised by SDS Tennis Academy at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility within the campus of La Martiniere College.
Monday’s schedule featured Round of 32 matches in the boys’ singles category, where several seeded players advanced comfortably to the next stage.
Top seed Faiz Kidwai, third seed Meher Khosla, fourth seed Vanshraj Jalota and fifth seed Ankit all registered convincing victories to move ahead.
Representing Uttarakhand, Ashwin Chauhan battled past Aman Singh from Bihar in a gripping three-set encounter. After winning the opening set 6-1, Ashwin lost the second 4-6 before clinching the super tie-break 10-8.
Meanwhile, Devansh Vij dominated his match against Adamya Singh with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 straight-sets victory.

Top seed Faiz Kidwai overwhelmed Shaurya Bisht 6-0, 6-0, while Meher Khosla defeated Akshat Tyagi 6-1, 6-3. Vanshraj Jalota also cruised past Shaurya Singh 6-1, 6-1.
Telangana’s Ankit secured a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Neelotpal Singh to progress further in the tournament.
In another closely fought match, Mohammad Arij from Uttar Pradesh defeated Amartya Chaudhary 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 in the super tie-break. Nipun Chauhan also recovered strongly to beat Abhiuday Singh 2-6, 7-5, 10-4.
Other winners included Satvik Gupta, Aditya Vaibhav, Rohin Raj, Rishant Jaiswal, Virat Singh, Dhruv Singh, Pranav Sharma and Anuruddh Kumar, all of whom advanced with straight-set victories.
