Lucknow: The Lucknow Branch of ICAI (CIRC), in collaboration with the UP GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, successfully organized a one-day seminar on the subject of “GST Appellate Tribunal” at Hotel Damson Plum, Lucknow. Over 200 participants—including Chartered Accountants, Advocates, Cost Accountants, GST Practitioners, and representatives from the industrial sector—from various cities across Uttar Pradesh such as Agra, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj, participated enthusiastically in this seminar.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Chandhariyavi, Vice President of the GST Appellate Tribunal, Uttar Pradesh, graced the event with his distinguished presence as the Chief Guest. In his address, he shared detailed insights regarding the functioning of the GST Appellate Tribunal, the importance of effective advocacy, and the necessity of professional preparedness.
Further enhancing the stature of the event, Santosh Kumar Srivastava (Judicial Member), Narendra Kumar (Judicial Member), Alok Chopra (Technical Member—Central), and Arvind Kumar (Technical Member—State) of the GST Appellate Tribunal, Lucknow Bench, attended as Guests of Honour. The event was also attended by the Joint Registrar, Assistant Registrar, and other officials of the GSTAT, Lucknow.
The technical sessions of the seminar were addressed by eminent speakers, CA Avinash Poddar and Advocate B.L. Narasimhan. They provided practical and crucial guidance regarding GST appellate procedures, the drafting of appeals, litigation strategies, and effective advocacy before the Tribunal. Their lectures were highly appreciated by the participants.
CA Sanjeev Singhal, a member of the Central Council of ICAI, was also specially present at the event; through his distinguished presence and inspiring thoughts, he encouraged and motivated the participants. The program was organized under the leadership and guidance of CA Ashwani Jaiswal (Chairman, Lucknow Branch of ICAI-CIRC), CA Ashish Gupta (Secretary), CA Rishabh Mishra (Vice Chairman), and CA Priyanka Garg (Chairperson, Taxation Committee). The organization of the event also received special support from Kumar Sourav (President, UP GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association) and Naman Tiwari (Secretary, UP GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association).
