DM Chairs Meeting to Promote Self-Enumeration for Upcoming Census in Bareilly

Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh chaired a high-level meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium to review preparations and awareness efforts for the upcoming Census, with a special focus on promoting self-enumeration.

Officials informed that the self-enumeration phase for Uttar Pradesh will be conducted from May 7 to May 21, 2026. Residents can complete their self-enumeration online through the official census self-enumeration portal before the visit of census enumerators. The process is expected to ensure faster data collection, improved accuracy through self-reporting, reduced field errors, and greater convenience for citizens.

The District Magistrate directed all department heads to ensure that employees under their jurisdiction complete self-enumeration and actively encourage the public to participate. He emphasised the need for extensive awareness campaigns to maximise participation.

All Sub-Divisional Magistrates were instructed to prepare detailed action plans and organise training sessions for lekhpals and village secretaries to motivate citizens at the grassroots level. The DM also called upon the municipal corporation to take a proactive role in facilitating self-enumeration in urban areas.

Special directives were issued to the education department, asking the Basic Shiksha Adhikari and District Inspector of Schools to ensure participation of teachers. Awareness and training programmes are to be conducted at tehsil headquarters and block levels, along with coordinated efforts in rural areas.

The health department was also tasked with involving ASHA workers, while outreach to medical professionals through the Indian Medical Association was suggested to widen participation. The DM stressed the importance of engaging youth and higher educational institutions through training programmes.

He further directed that Panchayat Bhawan be utilised as communication hubs for awareness campaigns, with village representatives playing a key role in mobilising residents.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Santosh Kumar Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Shashibhushan, the City Magistrate, all SDMs, and other district-level officials.

Officials described the initiative as a crucial step towards ensuring accurate and efficient Census data collection through active public participation.
