Bareilly: A ‘Jan-Aakrosh Mahila Sammelan’ was organised at Invertis University under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, drawing participation from a large number of women and public representatives.
Addressing the gathering, Maurya emphasized unity and collective strength, stating that efforts were made during a recent parliamentary session to pass a bill granting 33 percent reservation to women, but it could not materialise due to opposition resistance. He remarked that with broader support, the proposal could have become a historic milestone.
Highlighting the role of women in governance, he cited examples of reservation in पंचायत and urban bodies, noting that such measures have enabled women to assume leadership roles, including at the district level. Referring to the vision of Narendra Modi, he reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering women through initiatives like financial inclusion, housing schemes, healthcare benefits, and the Ujjwala scheme.
Maurya also spoke about the significance of campaigns such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, stressing that women excel in every field when given opportunities. He asserted that women’s participation is crucial to achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

Several leaders, including Forest and Environment Minister Dr. Arun Kumar, Mayor Dr. Umesh Gautam, District Panchayat Chairperson Rashmi Patel, MP Chhatrapal Gangwar, and other public representatives, also addressed the gathering, expressing support for women’s empowerment and reservation.
The event witnessed strong participation from women representatives, local leaders, and citizens.
