Residents Protest Water Crisis in Cantonment Area, Demand Immediate Action

Lucknow: Anger is mounting among residents of the Cantonment Assembly constituency as persistent drinking water issues triggered a protest in Geetapalli ward, with locals and public representatives demanding urgent intervention from authorities.

Residents complained that several localities in the ward have been facing acute water shortages for days. Even where supply is available, it lasts barely 30 minutes and is reportedly contaminated, raising serious health concerns. Despite repeated complaints to officials of the Jal Kal department, including the Executive Engineer and General Manager, no concrete solution had been implemented.

Frustrated by the inaction, local residents along with several councillors gathered at the Zone 5 Jal Kal office and staged a protest. A formal complaint letter was submitted to the officials, who were then taken to inspect affected lanes along with the Junior Engineer and supervisory staff.

During the protest, demonstrators raised slogans such as “Stop paperwork, ensure clean water,” highlighting their growing dissatisfaction. Officials assured the crowd that immediate steps would be taken to resolve the issue and improve water supply in the affected areas.

The protest saw participation from several local leaders, including former councillor Arvind Yadav, former Assembly President Ritesh Sahu, councillor Jeetu Yadav, trader leader Pawan Manocha, and Assembly President Santosh Rawat.

Other participants included Manoj Singh, Jitendra Yadav, Aman Dhanuk (SC Cell President), Bobby Dhanuk, Pradeep Kumar, Badre Alam, Noor Khan, Furkan Khan, Ranjeet Kumar, Abhishek Bhatt, Raja Abrar, Rubal Kush, Arora, and Ankit Gupta, among others.

Residents warned that if the issue is not resolved promptly, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days.
