Noida: A major revelation has emerged in connection with the recent violence in Noida, with Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh stating that a Pakistan-based social media conspiracy played a role in inciting unrest.
Addressing the media, Singh said that two social media accounts operating from Pakistan were actively spreading misinformation during the workers’ protest. These handles allegedly circulated false claims, including rumours of workers being killed in police firing, which intensified tensions and contributed to the violence on April 13.
She further revealed that a case has been registered against the two X (formerly Twitter) accounts at Sector 20 police station. During the investigation, details received from the platform confirmed that both accounts were being operated from Pakistan, with internet connectivity and IP addresses traced to the country. The accounts were also using VPN services to mask their identity. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The Police Commissioner noted that peace has prevailed in Noida for the past two days. Law enforcement agencies conducted flag marches to restore confidence, and workers across industrial units have resumed duties peacefully in multiple shifts.
She also highlighted that steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government, including a hike in minimum wages and the formation of a wage board, have helped address workers’ concerns. As a result, workers have expressed satisfaction and returned to work.
Appealing to the public, Singh urged people not to fall prey to rumours or provocations. She requested citizens and workers to report any suspicious activity to the police and help maintain law and order in the district, which has traditionally remained peaceful and industrially active.
