Artists to Create Special 15-Foot Canvas Painting Celebrating 150 Years of “Vande Mataram” at Lucknow Book Fair

Lucknow: In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, a special collaborative painting on a 15-foot-long canvas will be created at Ravindralay, Charbagh, during the ongoing Lucknow Book Fair. The event will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday under the guidance of renowned artist and art critic Bhupendra Kumar Asthana.

The team of artists will bring to life the spirit of “Vande Mataram”, expressing patriotism, national pride, and India’s rich cultural heritage through colours and lines. Written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in a mix of Sanskrit and Bengali, “Vande Mataram” was first composed on November 7, 1875, and became a powerful source of inspiration during India’s freedom movement.

Participating artists include Bhupendra Kumar Asthana, Ashwani Kumar Prajapati, Gaurang Agrawal, Siddharth Dev, Kapil Sharma, Shiva Verma, Vishwas Mishra, Shreya Goswami, Sandhya Vishwakarma, Neha, and Varsha Sharma.

The initiative aims to celebrate the patriotic legacy of the song, while fostering artistic expression and community engagement during one of Lucknow’s largest literary and cultural gatherings.
