UP to Boost Religious Tourism in Prayagraj with ₹3.46 Crore Investment for Two Temples

Lucknow/Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is set to enhance religious tourism in Prayagraj by investing over ₹3.46 crore in two key temples—Falahiri Baba Temple in Karchhana and Durga Temple, Devi Dham Pachdewa in Soraon Tehsil. The project aims to modernize these faith centers, providing pilgrims with improved facilities and an enriched spiritual experience.

Tourism & Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said Prayagraj, long recognized as a major center of faith, continues to attract domestic and international tourists. While the focus remains on popular pilgrimage sites, the department is also prioritizing the development of lesser-known religious destinations. Under this initiative, ₹1.64 crore has been allocated for Falahiri Baba Temple, and ₹1.82 crore for Durga Temple, Devi Dham Pachdewa. The first installments of ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh, respectively, have already been released.

The development will include temple beautification, modern lighting, grand entrance gates, pilgrims’ shelters, stamped flooring paths, seating benches, clean toilets, drinking water facilities, dustbins, signage, and mural art, ensuring a holistic experience for visitors.

Jaiveer Singh highlighted that Prayagraj, as part of the “Spiritual Triangle” (Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Kashi), has a unique place in India’s religious tourism map. In 2025, nearly 69 crore visitors explored the district, while the Magh Mela 2026 alone drew over 21 crore devotees, reflecting the region’s growing tourism potential
