Lucknow — Renowned economist Dr. P. C. Gupta has been awarded an Indian Design Patent by the Government of India’s Patent Office for his innovation titled “AI-Based Device for Business Strategy Planning and Risk Forecasting.”
Dr. Gupta, currently serving as Head of the Department of Economics at Mahakaushal University, received the design registration certificate under the provisions of the Designs Act, 2000 and Designs Rules, 2001.
The patented design relates to an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based device developed to assist in business strategy formulation and risk forecasting. The innovation is aimed at strengthening modern economic analysis, data-driven decision-making and institutional management processes. Experts believe the device could significantly enhance strategic planning in industry, academia and public policy.

The project was developed in collaboration with co-inventors including Dr. Mahendra Kumar Namdev, Dr. Mustaq Alam, Pooja Upadhyay, Dr. Kiran Sachdeva, Dr. Shweta Singh, Sumona Ghosh, Vishal Mishra, Avdhesh Yadav and Aparajita Srivastava.
Dr. Gupta, a noted academic from Lucknow, described the achievement as the outcome of a strong synergy between teaching, research and innovation. The accomplishment has been widely appreciated in academic circles and is seen as a matter of pride for the city and the state.
