Sports Competitions Conclude on Foundation Day of Vivekananda Polyclinic

Lucknow: The annual sports competitions organized on the occasion of the Foundation Day of Vivekananda Polyclinic & Institute of Medical Sciences concluded with great enthusiasm and participation in Lucknow. The multi-day sporting event brought together doctors, nursing staff, students, administrative officials, and employees of the institute in a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie.

The competitions were formally inaugurated earlier this week by the Institute’s Secretary, Swami Muktinathanand Maharaj, who symbolically marked the opening of the annual sports meet by stepping onto the cricket pitch and batting to declare the games open. The gesture was widely appreciated and set a spirited tone for the event.

Distinguished Guests and Large Participation

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Y.D. Mathur, a member of the Managing Committee of Ramakrishna Mission, who attended the event along with his wife, Madhu Mathur.

Also present on the occasion were Swami Muktinathanand Maharaj, Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Singh, members of the monastic order including Govind Maharaj and Sanjeev Maharaj, Nursing College Principal Dr. N. Venkatalakshmi along with faculty members, DNB residents, hospital staff, officers, and students. A large number of participants and spectators gathered to witness the concluding ceremony.

Wide Range of Sporting Events

This year, the institute organized a diverse array of sporting events aimed at encouraging fitness and team spirit among healthcare professionals and students. The competitions included cricket, badminton, chess, table tennis, tug of war, long jump, and a 100-meter race.

Doctors, employees, nursing staff, DNB residents, and students of the Nursing College participated enthusiastically in the various events, showcasing not only their athletic skills but also their unity beyond professional roles.

Winners and Highlights

One of the most exciting contests was the tug of war competition, where the Security Wing team defeated the MRI team to clinch the title. The match drew loud cheers from the audience and was among the highlights of the event.

In the long jump competition, Akhil Mukherjee of the institute secured first position with an impressive leap. In the 100-meter race, Radheshyam Yadav claimed first place with a strong sprint finish.

Following the competitions, a prize distribution ceremony was organized to honor the winners and participants. Chief Guest Y.D. Mathur and Secretary Swami Muktinathanand Maharaj presented trophies and certificates to the victorious athletes. Madhu Mathur felicitated the Nursing College students and other female winners, encouraging greater participation of women in sports activities within the institution.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Y.D. Mathur highlighted the importance of organizing sports competitions in institutions, particularly in healthcare settings. Swami Muktinathanand Maharaj, in his address, praised the enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by all participants. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the Organizing Secretary of the sports meet, Dr. Vishal Kumar Singh. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Guest Y.D. Mathur and Madhu Mathur for their gracious presence, as well as to Swami Muktinathanand Maharaj, the monastic members, Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Singh, Nursing College Principal Dr. N. Venkatalakshmi, faculty members, and all staff who contributed directly or indirectly to the successful organization of the event.
