Lucknow: On the directions of Samajwadi Party National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the party’s state president Shyam Lal Pal has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, raising serious objections over large-scale irregularities in the draft electoral roll of 87–Agra Cantt Assembly Constituency.
In the memorandum, the Samajwadi Party has demanded immediate corrective action, including the deletion of names of deceased and duplicate voters from the electoral rolls and the restoration of names of genuine voters whose entries were wrongly deleted despite proper submission of enumeration forms to Booth Level Officers (BLOs). The party emphasized that such steps are essential to ensure a transparent, error-free and accurate voter list.

The memorandum states that continuous complaints are being received regarding major discrepancies in the draft voter list of Agra Cantt. A significant number of deceased and duplicate voters are still recorded, while several eligible voters who duly filled and submitted enumeration forms to BLOs, and even received acknowledgements, have found their names deleted from the draft list.
Specific instances were highlighted to underline the gravity of the issue. At Polling Booth No. 317, voters listed at serial numbers 364, 367, 373, 374 and 381—namely Savita, Narayan, Shanti Devi, Sheela Devi and Pratap Singh—are reportedly deceased, yet their names remain on the rolls.
The memorandum also pointed out cases of duplication. At Polling Booth No. 317 (Serial No. 1), voter Ram Dayal, son of Bhanta Ram, is listed, while the same individual appears again at Polling Booth No. 318 (Serial No. 366) as Ram Dayal Singh, son of Bhanta Ram. Similarly, Ram Prakash, son of Lal Singh, appears at Polling Booth No. 317 (Serial No. 382) and again at Polling Booth No. 318 (Serial No. 483) as Ram Prakash Singh, son of Lal Singh, indicating duplicate entries.

Conversely, names of genuine voters have been deleted. At Polling Booth No. 398, voters listed at serial numbers 815, 816, 817, 818, 820 and 821—Mumtaz Khan, Iliyas Khan, Sahana Khan, Danish Khan and Arif Khan—along with Yasheen Khan at Polling Booth No. 404 (Serial No. 343), have been removed from the voter list despite having properly submitted enumeration forms to the BLOs.
The Samajwadi Party alleged gross negligence in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, stating that such lapses have led to widespread irregularities and caused unnecessary harassment to voters.
The memorandum was formally submitted by K.K. Srivastava, Dr. Harishchandra Singh and Radheshyam Singh, who urged the Election Commission to take swift and decisive action to rectify the errors and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
