Lucknow : In a major breakthrough, Lucknow Police arrested five members of a notorious gang involved in stealing valuables from people sitting inside four-wheelers using a deceptive ‘note-dropping’ trick.
According to police, the gang operated in Lucknow and other cities, targeting parked vehicles. Their modus operandi involved one member deliberately dropping currency notes near the target vehicle, luring the occupants to pick them up. While the victims were distracted, other gang members swiftly stole valuables. In some cases, they even broke car windows to steal items from locked vehicles.
The arrested accused were found in possession of stolen goods and cash. Police confirmed that several criminal cases were already registered against them in the past.
The operation was successfully executed by SHO Kaiserbagh Anjani Kumar Mishra’s team with support from the DCP West’s surveillance unit.
Police said the arrests have significantly curbed a chain of theft incidents reported recently across the city.
