Lucknow — On the evening of July 22, 2025, the Sant Gadge Maharaj Auditorium at the Sangeet Natak Akademi premises in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, will come alive with nostalgia and music as the renowned Lucknow-based theatre group Kamayani pays a heartfelt tribute to legendary playback singer Mukesh on his birth anniversary.
Titled “Kal Khel Mein Hum Hon Na Hon”, the unique stage production will blend theatrical storytelling with a live musical rendition of some of Mukesh’s most iconic songs. The play will portray the journey of the celebrated singer’s life, while his songs—performed live in voices remarkably similar to the original—will transport the audience to a golden era of Hindi film music.
Prominent actors Shubham Chauhan, Ankur Saxena, Sumit Srivastava, and Divyajeet will be seen in lead roles. Well-known vocalists Ashok Manglani and Rashmi Tripathi will lend their voices to recreate the timeless magic of Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar’s duets, adding an emotional and musical depth to the performance.
A standout feature of the event will be its light design, skillfully handled by senior theatre artist and lighting director Pradeep Srivastava, whose creative expertise will enhance the visual storytelling. The concept, script, and direction have been masterfully envisioned and executed by veteran stage director Naveen Srivastava, known for his theatrical finesse.
