Mumbai : Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has praised Saiyaara, the upcoming film directed by Mohit Suri, calling it a love story that could define a new generation — much like Aashiqui did in its time.
Speaking about the film’s emotional depth, Bhatt remarked, “Every generation deserves a love story that resonates with their time. ‘Saiyaara’, I believe, will be this era’s defining romance. When I made Aashiqui, it came from a place of purity — and it connected deeply with audiences. I see that same spirit in Saiyaara.”
The director also noted that Saiyaara evokes strong emotions in those who remember Aashiqui, yet it offers something uniquely modern. “It has the potential to redefine how romance is portrayed on screen today,” he added. “Mohit is like a son to me — and it would give me great joy to see him surpass what I created.”
Bhatt further appreciated Suri’s bold departure from his usual filmmaking style, saying Saiyaara showcases a deeper and more intense side of love. “It’s refreshing to see him break from convention. Audiences crave intensity and sincerity in romance — and Saiyaara delivers exactly that.”
Expressing his excitement about the collaboration between Suri and production house Yash Raj Films (YRF), Bhatt said he had always encouraged Mohit to work with new talent. “He’s working with two promising newcomers — and with a legendary studio like YRF backing the film, I’m confident it will leave a lasting impact.”
Describing Saiyaara as “a fresh breeze in contemporary cinema”, Bhatt shared his anticipation for the film’s release: “There’s a unique energy around this film. I truly hope it strikes a chord with the nation when it hits theatres on July 18.”
Saiyaara marks the acting debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, and is produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of YRF. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
