Lucknow— The judging process for the garden and home garden entries under the three-day Regional Fruit, Vegetable, and Flower Exhibition-2025, to be held at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow, has been successfully completed. The event saw enthusiastic participation from garden enthusiasts across Lucknow, representing various sectors.
The competition featured entries from organizations such as the Horticulture Department, Indian Army, Railways, PAC Headquarters, Directorate General of Police, Metro Rail Corporation, Municipal Corporation, Lucknow Development Authority, Housing and Development Council, Tata Motors, and individual gardening enthusiasts. Additionally, gardens from historical landmarks like Bara Imambara, Chhota Imambara, and the Tomb of Saadat Ali Khan were also part of the competition. A total of 212 entries were received across various categories.
The judging was conducted on February 1 and 2, 2025, by panels of subject matter experts from horticulture institutes under the Government of India and experienced professionals from the state’s Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, both serving and retired.
The results of the competitions across different categories will be announced on February 9, 2025, with an award ceremony scheduled at 3:00 PM on the same day at the Raj Bhavan premises.
Dr. Sarvesh Kumar, Joint Director of Horticulture and Nodal Officer of the Regional Fruit, Vegetable, and Flower Exhibition, shared that on February 6, 2025, competitions will be held at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow, for categories such as potted vegetables, ornamental foliage and flowering plants, fruits, vegetables, betel leaves, honey, mushrooms, preserved fruit products, cut flowers, rangoli, vertical gardens, artistic floral arrangements, and photography. Judging for these categories will also take place on the same day in the afternoon.
Dr. Kumar further informed that, similar to last year, cash prizes for the top scorers in the individual category are set at INR 51,000, INR 31,000, and INR 11,000 for the first, second, and third positions respectively. Additionally, the award for the best exhibit in the exhibition is fixed at INR 11,000.
The exhibition is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on February 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow, following which it will be open to the general public.
