ABVP AKTU Unit Launches Cloth and Medicine Collection Drives for Kumbh Mela

Lucknow: The ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) AKTU (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University) unit launched a grand Cloth Collection Drive and a Medicine Collection Drive for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, under the initiative ‘Box of Happiness.’ The event took place at the AKTU campus with the esteemed presence of Dr. R.K. Singh, the Deputy Registrar of AKTU.

The drive was inaugurated with a formal ceremony, where Dr. Singh expressed his support for such initiatives aimed at helping the underprivileged. Ankur Awasthi, the unit president of ABVP at AKTU, explained that the Cloth Collection Drive would run for seven days, after which the clothes would be distributed among those in need.

Medicine Collection Drive for Kumbh Mela

As part of the ‘Box of Happiness’ initiative, the ABVP also launched a Medicine Collection Drive for the Kumbh Mela, where a special Pharmacist Internship Camp will be set up. This drive will gather medicines from pharmacy institutions across the Awadh region, which will be sent to the camp at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.

Professor Akash Ved, the head of FarmaVision in the Awadh region, elaborated on the significance of this drive, explaining that all the collected medicines would be forwarded to the pharmacy camp at the Kumbh Mela. The initiative aims to provide essential medical support to the attendees of the religious event.

Key Attendees at the Event

The launch event was attended by several prominent figures, including Dr. Akash Ved (FarmaVision, Awadh region head), Dr. Ravi Sharma (City President, Janakipuram), Vikrant Tiwari (Program Coordinator), Jay Prakash Pal, Harsh Pandey, as well as faculty members from the Faculty of Management, including Dr. Vinay Chaturvedi, Dr. Gajendra Gupta, Dr. Varsha Shukla, Arzu Gupta, and Shefali Singh. Additionally, faculty members from the Faculty of Pharmacy, including Dr. Jai Veer Singh, Dr. Vikas Chaudhary, Dr. Neelkanth, Anjali, Priya, and several students and ABVP workers, were present at the event.

The event successfully highlighted the ABVP’s commitment to social causes and its initiative to provide both physical and medical support to those in need, especially during large-scale events like the Kumbh Mela. The collection drives will go a long way in aiding the underprivileged and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical camps at the religious gathering.
