AKTU and Nemetschek Host Seminar on Empowering NextGen

Lucknow: Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), in collaboration with software solutions provider Nemetschek, organized a seminar titled “Empowering NextGen Engineers and Architects for Job Readiness” specifically for civil engineering and architecture faculty members and students. Approximately 100 participants, including faculty and students, attended the event, which aimed to provide insights on skill development, industry readiness, and the importance of emerging technologies.

The seminar’s chief guest, Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary of AICTE, shared insights into AICTE’s latest initiatives aimed at benefiting core engineering fields. He highlighted various schemes supporting skill enhancement and employment in core engineering disciplines.

AKTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AKTU and Nemetschek, noting the MoU’s significance in advancing skill development aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). Prof. Pandey emphasized NEP’s role in empowering students with minor degrees in emerging technologies, which will be advantageous for core engineers.

Nimish Gupta, the industry keynote speaker, shared valuable advice on the skills required for successful placements. He emphasized hard work, persistence, and the importance of mentors in a student’s life, offering guidance on the pathway to career success.

The seminar included a panel discussion on “Innovating for a Better Tomorrow by Leveraging Technology: The Role of Civil Engineers and Architects,” moderated by  Deepankar Bhattacharya. Distinguished panelists included Prof. J.B. Srivastava from Civil Engineering, Prof. Subhrajit from Architecture,  Avinash Ghai,  Devesh Mani Tripathi, and Prof. Neelam Srivastava, Dean of Training & Placement. They discussed the critical impact of technology on infrastructure and how future professionals can contribute to sustainable development.

A key highlight was the MoU signing between AKTU and Nemetschek to establish a Center of Excellence. This center will provide architecture and civil engineering students and faculty with opportunities to upskill, enhancing their career prospects and job readiness. Prof. Neelam Srivastava emphasized the relevance of civil and architecture branches in society, especially in light of expanding infrastructure demands. She highlighted the importance of blending core engineering with emerging technologies to open doors to new opportunities.

Also present at the event were Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Director of CAS Prof. Virendra Pathak, and Accounts Officer Keshav Singh, who shared their perspectives on the evolving landscape of engineering and architecture.

The seminar concluded with an optimistic outlook on the future of engineering and architecture education, with the newly-formed AKTU-Nemetschek partnership marking a step forward in producing industry-ready professionals in the core fields of civil and architecture.
