Mumbai: Since making his T20I debut for India in 2023, Rinku Singh has won awards for his ability to close out games and perform well under duress.
Rinku demonstrated his abilities once again as he struck fifty runs and amassed 108 runs in a fast-paced partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy to lay the groundwork for India to defeat Bangladesh in series at Delhi after a power-play finish of 41/3.
It’s always a pressure scenario since I bat when three or four wickets are down. I attempt to communicate with my partner and bat in accordance with the circumstances of the match. Since the wicket was sluggish, we concentrated on getting singles and doubles and played each ball according to its worth rather than trying for a high score.
“His confidence was through the roof when Nitish blasted a six off the no-ball. He batted very well and the whole time we were talking. We had a great time, and I simply advised him to keep aiming high and that this is God’s plan,” Rinku stated to JioCinema’s presenters.
He also stated how he was informed by the Indian team management that his situation might change depending on the outcome of the match. It does sometimes change. Hardik bhaiya bats first if it’s the last few overs, and if there are still middle overs, they put me in. My viewpoint is subject to change depending on the circumstances of the match, as they have said.
Rinku also shared details of his conversations with Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach. “We haven’t spoken about anything noteworthy. At KKR, he allowed me a lot of latitude to keep up my practicing regimen and style. He just advised me to maintain my composure and have faith in myself.”
He also discussed the benefits of his exposure to elite cricket. It’s very helpful. I’m very good at red-ball cricket. In first-class matches, when a few wickets have gone, I bat in a similar position. I constantly support myself and want to take advantage of any chance I have to help my team win.”
In closing, Rinku said that he had reminded skipper Suryakumar Yadav of his bowling prowess. Yes, I did remind him that I bowled against Sri Lanka as well as claimed three wickets in seven games. He is aware that he may also give me the ball when the wicket turns.”
