Lucknow: Six people were killed in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Kalyanpur in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. As a means to nip criminal distribution of illegal firecrackers it has now been decided to run a campaign against illegal firecracker business in UP. DGP Prashant Kumar has instructed to run the campaign till October 9. If an accident occurs after this, action will be taken against those responsible.
Officers should review: DGP
DGP Prashant Kumar has instructed the officers that the CEO, SDM area inspector and fire service joint team should go and inspect the factories which have been given license. Senior officers should also review what preparations are there to deal with fire, it should also be seen whether children are being made to work in the firecracker factory. The DGP has asked the officers to cross check.
‘Action will be taken against those responsible if an accident occurs after inspection’
DGP Prashant Kumar instructed that the help of LIU and other intelligence units will be taken for information on illegal storage and manufacture of firecrackers. The DGP has told the officer that the place of firecracker sale should be kept away from the population. The campaign has started from Thursday after his instructions. The DGP has also asked for videography of the inspection and cross checking by senior officers, so that if any accident happens even after the inspection, responsibility and accountability can be fixed.
A government school teacher, his wife and two minor children were shot dead by unknown assailants near Ahorwa Bhavani intersection in Shivratanganj police station area of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
