Lucknow: The black spots on the road have become a death knell for the vehicle riders. When the agencies conducted a survey, the road design was found to be the biggest reason for this. According to the engineers, many irregularities have been found in the road design during the survey. About 55 black spots have been identified in Lucknow city and rural areas. Of these, 45 are in the city and seven in rural areas. Road accidents are often happening at these black spots, where vehicle riders are losing their lives. PWD engineers have been instructed to improve them by December at any cost.
Black spots were the main issue in the district road safety meeting. Information about black spots has been put forth by the Transport Department on this issue. Instructions were given to regularly review the black spot improvement in all the District Road Safety Committees. The work of short-term improvement of the black spots identified in the year 2024 will have to be completed by December 2024. There is a budget of about Rs 28 crore for this. Along with this, the headquarters of the Public Works Department gave instructions to upgrade the black spot on the Vishwakarma portal by setting a time limit for online black spot improvement. A place on the road is called a black spot where accidents happen repeatedly.
Improvement will be done first in Shaheed Path and rural areas
The black spots in rural areas include Masidha petrol pump on Malihabad Itaunja road, Khatola in Bani-Mohan road, Godauli of Gosaiganj, Haroni, Narayanpur in Fatehganj Narayanpur road, Kamalapur on Bijnor to Sisendi road, Masidha Hamir on Ajgain Malihabad Intauja road. Whereas on Shahid Path, Summit Building, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan Chauraha, Shahid Path Tiraha, Atal Road, Telibagh Chauraha, Utrethiya, Kisan Path will be repaired.
