22 Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Jal Kal Employees Retire; Three Workers Honoured for Heroic Rescue During Aliganj Fire

Lucknow: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) organised a special felicitation ceremony at its headquarters on Friday to honour 22 employees from the Municipal Corporation and the Jal Kal Department who retired after completing years of dedicated public service. The event was presided over by Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, who extended a heartfelt farewell and expressed gratitude for their contributions to the city’s civic services.

Among those honoured were nine employees from various departments of the Municipal Corporation and 13 employees from different zones of the Jal Kal Department. The retirees represented key civic service areas, including engineering, sanitation, horticulture, street lighting, water supply and public administration.

The Mayor lauded the retirees for their commitment, dedication and integrity, noting that their efforts played a vital role in maintaining essential civic services and improving the quality of life for residents across the city.

A special highlight of the programme was the recognition of three Jal Kal Department employees—Rajesh Kumar, Mohit Verma and Vinod Soni—for their extraordinary bravery during the recent Aliganj fire incident. The trio was credited with saving the lives of five young people by participating in rescue operations despite the risks involved. Their courage and quick response were widely appreciated and described as an inspiration for municipal employees.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Kharkwal said retirement marks not the end of service but the beginning of a new phase of life. She wished all retired employees a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling future while praising their invaluable contribution to public welfare.

Senior officials, employee representatives, municipal staff and family members of the retirees were also present at the ceremony, joining in celebrating the achievements and service of the outgoing employees.
