SP – Congress bonhomie is as good as ever

Lucknow: It is almost certain that Congress will get another Phulpur seat in the UP assembly by-elections. Akhilesh Yadav has also indicated this. He said that India Alliance will fight the elections in UP unitedly. Continuous talks are going on for this.

Elections are being held in 9 assembly seats of UP – Ghaziabad, Khair, Meerapur, Kundarki, Karhal, Sisamau, Phulpur, Katehari and Majhawan. SP has so far announced to give Khair and Ghaziabad seats to Congress under India Alliance. Whereas, SP has fielded its candidates on all the remaining seats except Kundarki.

According to political sources, Congress is not satisfied with getting Ghaziabad and Khair seats. It has also claimed Majhawan and Phulpur seats. This is the reason why Congress has not yet decided its candidates on both the seats received under the alliance. According to SP sources, the party high command is ready to give Phulpur seat to Congress. Provided Congress is satisfied with getting this seat. Then SP will withdraw its candidate from Phulpur.

Expectations from SP’s alliance in Maharashtra increased

With the Congress giving three seats in UP, SP’s expectations from it have increased in Maharashtra. There, SP has claimed 12 seats under the alliance. Akhilesh Yadav also said in an informal conversation that a situation like Haryana cannot be tolerated every time.

If we are generously accepting Congress’ claims in UP, then we expect similar behavior in return in other states as well. Let us tell you here that out of the total 10 seats on which by-elections are to be held in UP, 5 seats were won by SP in the 2022 general elections. SP believes that Congress has no claim on the five seats it won. Giving three out of the five lost seats to Congress is no less a big thing.
