Russia plans to outsmart Uncle Sam in terms of Army strength

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to increase the number of soldiers in the Russian army. After increasing the army by 180,000 soldiers, the Russian army will be the second largest army after China with a strength of 1.5 million soldiers. Putin has ordered to increase the size of the army for the third time after 2022.

Russia will have 1.5 million active soldiers

In the order published on the Kremlin website, Putin ordered to increase the total number of armed forces to 23 lakh 80 thousand, out of which 1.5 million should be active soldiers. According to the military think tank International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the increase in the number of soldiers will put Russia ahead of the US and India in terms of the number of active combat soldiers it has. China has more than 2 million active military personnel.

Russia is reforming the armed forces

Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the Defense Committee of the lower house of the Russian Parliament, said that the increase in the number of active soldiers is part of the plan to reform the armed forces and gradually increase their size.
