Chandigarh: The central government believes that there are immense possibilities of tourism in India and for that, apart from improving the facilities in the old tourist places, there is a need to identify and develop new tourist places. The government has also become active for this and it has been included in the agenda on priority.
Regional conference will be held in Chandigarh
The Union Tourism Ministry is going to hold a regional conference with the tourism ministers of the states of North India and the main agenda in this is the development of tourist places and to make the business and trade related to tourism easier. This regional conference of the state tourism ministers will be held in Chandigarh on 22 August.
States will be encouraged
Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat admitted that we have not been able to develop new tourist places in proportion to the increase in the number of tourists, but the government is now focusing on developing new tourist places and the states will be encouraged for this in the regional conference.
These states will participate
A regional conference is going to be held in Chandigarh on 22 August. Nine states and union territories of North India will participate in it. Sources say that there are mainly two agendas in the conference. First, to develop tourist destinations and second, to make trade and business related to tourism easier. Tourism ministers and officials of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Himachal and Haryana will participate in it.
The Centre will provide financial assistance
States have the right to identify tourist destinations. The central government provides financial and other assistance in their development. One of the objectives of this conference is to increase the participation and capacity of states in tourism. This is the first regional conference of this year. States of North India will participate in it, after which similar regional conferences will be held for West, East and South.
