New Delhi: With less than a week to go for the 12th edition of Norway Chess, Indian chess player Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu is excited to play in the tournament. The tournament, scheduled to be held from May 27 to June 7, features world number one Magnus Carlsen, world champion Ding Liren and world number three Hikaru Nakamura among others.

“I am thrilled and excited to play in Norway Chess. This is the strongest field I have ever played in. I am looking at this tournament as an opportunity and a challenge to give my best. I am looking forward to this time control tournament which I have not played anywhere till now,” said 18-year-old Rameshbabu.

Recalling his encounter with Carlsen in the FIDE Chess World Cup last year, Rameshbabu said, “I always like a good challenge. This will be my first classical encounter with Carlsen after the World Cup last year. I am very excited to play with him and others.”
