‘Ground Zero’: The Story of the Fall of Ghazi Baba

Mumbai: Bollywood is once again spotlighting the bravery of India’s armed forces with Ground Zero, an upcoming film starring Emraan Hashmi. Inspired by the real-life mission that led to the elimination of terrorist mastermind Ghazi Baba, the film depicts a 2003 BSF operation in Kashmir, following the 2001 Indian Parliament attack.

Emraan Hashmi plays BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dubey, who led the mission that became one of BSF’s most successful. The movie, backed by Excel Entertainment, also stars Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, and Mukesh Tiwari, with Rocky Raina reportedly portraying Ghazi Baba.

Ghazi Baba, whose real name was Rana Tahir Nadeem, was linked to several terror attacks, including the IC-814 hijacking and Akshardham attack. BSF’s Operation Ground Zero was crucial in eliminating him, earning recognition in 2015 as one of the force’s best missions in five decades. Ground Zero released worldwide on April 25, with special screenings already held for BSF personnel.
