Lucknow: Anganwadi kit distribution program was successfully organized at King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow in the august presence of Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel. Under this program, 200 Anganwadi kits were distributed for Hardoi district, out of which 100 kits were provided by KGMU, Lucknow and 100 kits by District Administration, Hardoi.
The Governor specially provided nutrition kits to 10 severely malnourished children. This effort was made with the aim of improving the nutritional level of children and ensuring their overall development.
In her address, the Governor said that the work being done in the field of nutrition and education through Anganwadi centers helps in empowering the weaker sections of the society. The Governor expressed her happiness over the charming presentations given by the small children of Anganwadi in the program and said that Anganwadi workers should present an ideal behavior in front of the children because children learn a lot from their teachers and what they see at this age is permanently imprinted on their minds.
The Governor wished the children and said that the task of showing the right direction to the children should be the first duty of Anganwadi workers. He said that Anganwadi workers also play an important role in guiding small children, pregnant mothers and adolescents.
In her address, the Governor directed the doctors to make such a documentary film, which shows the various stages of pregnancy and development of the child. It should show the diet of the pregnant woman, the environment, and the effects of these factors on the child. This film should be broadcast to all sections of the society so that people can become aware.
The Governor also directed to take a pledge that no child should remain malnourished. Expressing her views on cleanliness, she said that the society should be aware of cleanliness. Also, she stressed on increasing the use of digital technology in the development of Anganwadi. She said that the latest information should be provided to children using mobile phones and digital mediums.
The Governor presented the book ‘Hamara Raj Bhavan’ based on the innovations done in Raj Bhavan Uttar Pradesh to the District Magistrate Hardoi, Mangala Prasad Singh and Chief Development Officer, Saumya Gururani and said that everyone should keep making similar creative efforts in their field of work. Along with this, the Governor presented a special first aid box to the District Magistrate, Hardoi.
This box included essential items like Dettol, soap, needle-thread, medicines, comb, nail cutter, handkerchief, which are very important for the care of small children of Anganwadi. While providing the kit, the Governor directed the District Magistrate that such first aid kits should be made available in every Anganwadi of Hardoi, so that proper care can be taken of the safety and health of the children.
The Governor encouraged the children who gave presentations during the program by presenting them gifts. Appreciating the creativity and enthusiasm of the children, he said that such events are helpful in the all-round development of children. Various supporting institutions that contributed in the kit distribution – KGMU, Lucknow Varun Beverages Company Limited, Hardoi DCM Shriram Company Limited, Hardoi Indian Pesticides Limited, Sandila Safe East Company Limited, Sandila HCL Foundation, Hardoi were honored by the Governor by giving them certificates.
Addressing the program, Minister of State (Higher Education), Uttar Pradesh, Rajni Tiwari said that Uttar Pradesh is continuously progressing under the guidance of the Honorable Governor. Only when the foundation of children is strong, the building of society and country will also be strong. The foundation of children is being strengthened through Anganwadi centers, which is promoting their physical and mental growth.
Addressing the program, Minister of State for Women Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition, Pratibha Shukla said that the Anganwadi centers of the state are constantly being strengthened with the inspiration of the Governor. She said that with the guidance and encouragement of the Governor, children are getting better nutrition, education and care in Anganwadi centers, which is strengthening the foundation of physical and mental development of children.
During the program, District Magistrate Hardoi, Mangala Prasad Singh provided information to the Governor about the progress work done in the Anganwadi centers of Hardoi district. She told that many important improvements and innovations have been made in the field of nutrition, education and health of children in Anganwadi centers. As a result, the nutrition level of children has improved and positive progress is being seen in the field of education.
On this occasion, Chief Development Officer Soumya Gururani, Vice Chancellor KGMU Prof. Sonia Nityanand, Anganwadi workers, children, public representatives and others were present.
