Lucknow: In the august presence of Uttar Pradesh’s Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Political Pension, Dharmpal Singh and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade and Agricultural Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh, an All India function was organized at Parikalpa Bhawan in Telibagh on the occasion of the general meeting of the Indian Veterinary Association (96/1967), completion of 100 years of the Indian Veterinary Journal published by the association and also the centenary year of Uttar Pradesh Veterinary Association.
On this occasion, the Animal Husbandry Minister, while addressing the program organized by the Animal Medical Service Association, said that veterinary doctors have an important contribution in maintaining and increasing the safety of livestock and the quality and productivity of animal products.
The Veterinary Association is advancing veterinary science. We appreciate all the veterinarians for their work in research, treatment and welfare of animals. This association is working for the welfare of veterinarians. He said that the development of livestock sector is being given priority by the state government.
On this occasion, Singh congratulated and wished the International Journal published by IVA to provide latest information and latest research to veterinarians working in the field on completion of its glorious 100 years. Indian Veterinary Association is the highest body of veterinarians in the country, registered since 1967, whose members are academicians of universities of all states, scientists of scientific institutions, RVC officers, serving and retired officers of banks, insurance companies etc.
The Animal Husbandry Minister, in his address, highlighted the importance of livestock and said that livestock is the basis of our life and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to preserve them. He said that earlier animal husbandry was done collectively, but with time it has changed.
Today, livestock is not only fulfilling nutritious food to the people, but self-employment is being generated on a large scale from the business of animal products and the economy of the state is also getting a boost. In such a situation, the role of veterinarians is becoming more important. Veterinary doctors are also protecting farmers and livestock owners from livestock losses during infectious diseases.
Singh appreciated the work of the Veterinary Association. Singh said that we all have a responsibility towards the safety and protection of livestock and we have to be more sensitive towards animals.
On this occasion, Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh said that due to the changes in the field of science and technology, many improvements have taken place in animal husbandry today. He also discussed about small-sized cows, which are very beautiful in appearance and their arrival brings happiness in the house. He urged scientists to do such research so that animals can be kept healthy even while keeping them at home.
On this occasion, he also underlined the importance of livestock in the lives of farmers and said that in earlier times, farmers used to bear the expenses of their children’s education by selling milk and ghee. He inspired everyone to stay united and fulfill their responsibility towards the safety and protection of livestock. He said that horticulture, agriculture and livestock are complementary to each other and only by their development and growth through scientific methods, the income of farmers and livestock owners will double. There are many opportunities for self-employment in horticulture, agriculture, animal husbandry and these sectors are being specially encouraged by the state government.
Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Development, K Ravindra Nayak, Director of Animal Husbandry Department were present in the program. Along with this, a large number of people including scientists, doctors, researchers from different states of the country were present.
