Lucknow: 87 students of MSc Chemistry Semester III of Lucknow University will do their summer internship at Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) and National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI). Its objective is to make the youth understand the importance of natural products along with quality control and promote it. Training will start from July 8 at CIMAP and from July 9 at NBRI.
Skill development training will be provided
This summer internship is part of Semester III and is a requirement for partial fulfillment of the MSc degree in Chemistry. A total of 47 students will do their summer internship at CIMAP, while 40 students will do it at NBRI. CIMAP students have been included in the CSIR Integrated Skill Development Initiative, where they will receive skill development training on various broad areas including quality control, synthetic approaches in natural products, chemistry and other aspects of flavonoids, herbal drug development approaches and spectroscopy.
Lectures and practical demonstrations included
The training programmes at NBRI can be designed or tailored to the already running skill development programmes on phytochemical analysis technician and quality analysis for herbal industry. Students will get training in areas like soil chemistry, environmental science, pharmacognosy, instrumentation, industrial chemistry etc. The programmes at both the institutes will include lectures and practical demonstrations related to chemistry and related fields.
