Proposed AI City-cum-Business Park aims to attract domestic and international investors, encourage technological innovation and create new employment opportunities
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is advancing plans to develop Lucknow into a major centre for artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, with Vrindavan IT City identified as the preferred location for the proposed Lucknow AI City-cum-Business Park.

The project, being pursued under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to establish a dedicated ecosystem for AI-driven industries, promote technology-based enterprises and attract investment in the state’s growing digital economy.
A pre-feasibility report prepared for the project has assessed key aspects, including land selection, the proposed development concept, the project’s structural framework and benchmarking against similar initiatives in India and abroad. Based on this assessment, Vrindavan IT City has been identified as the most suitable location for the proposed development.
Over 25 proposals received from potential partners
The state invited expressions of interest from national and international stakeholders to explore strategic partnerships and encourage AI-based companies to establish operations in Lucknow. More than 25 proposals were received in response to the Expression of Interest issued on July 26, 2025.
The response indicates interest from prospective partners in exploring opportunities associated with the proposed project, although the final development structure and implementation will depend on subsequent decisions.
Consultants appointed to advance project planning

Steps have also been taken to strengthen the project’s planning and implementation framework. A transaction adviser and a consultancy organisation have been appointed as part of the process to establish a Project Management Unit (PMU) for planning the AI City-cum-Business Park, preparing its development roadmap and attracting investment.
A consultant has also been selected through a tender process to provide advisory services for the project’s establishment. According to the prescribed terms, the consultant is required to advance the process of finalising the land decision and engaging a master developer within one year of its appointment.
Focus on investment, innovation and employment
The proposed AI City is intended to create an environment conducive to the growth of artificial intelligence companies, digital technology firms and innovation-driven enterprises. Once developed, the project could provide opportunities for investors, technology companies, research institutions and startups to establish or expand their presence in Lucknow.
The initiative is also expected to support demand for specialised skills in AI, digital technologies and research, potentially opening up new employment opportunities for technology professionals and young graduates.
By combining technology infrastructure with a business-oriented development model, the proposed project seeks to position Lucknow as an emerging destination for AI-led enterprise and innovation.
However, the project’s implementation will depend on further decisions concerning land finalisation, the appointment of a master developer and the subsequent development process.
