Mumbai: Avika Gor is set to make a grand return to television as the Queen of Apsaras in Star Plus’ upcoming supernatural drama Apsara, which premieres on October 21. Inspired by the legendary Samudra Manthan, the show promises a magical world of power, dignity, mystery and deep emotions, with Avika appearing in a striking role in the opening episode.
Produced by Mukta Dhond, Apsara revolves around Sunheri, played by Samiksha Jaiswal, who battles evil forces to protect amrit and save her loved ones. The show also features Paras Kalnawat, Anushka Merchande and Adaa Khan. Blending fantasy, adventure and emotional relationships, the narrative explores the courage required to navigate the conflict between love and duty.

Talking about what drew her to the role, Avika said, “For me, the character and the story have always mattered the most. The medium I work in has never been the biggest factor in my decisions. When I learned about this character, her many layers really appealed to me. She is powerful and commands attention, but she also has her vulnerabilities. The role gave me the opportunity to explore a range of elements, from romance and action to emotional scenes and dance.”
To bring the character to life, Avika embraced an elaborate transformation involving specially designed costumes, jewellery and detailed styling. She said that every element of her appearance helped her connect with the character and immerse herself in the show’s fantastical setting.

Avika credited Mukta Dhond and Vikram Ghai for creating the show’s distinctive and grand visual world. She also described working with Manish and Adaa Khan as an experience that made the journey even more memorable.
However, the most meaningful aspect of the project for Avika is her return to television. Reflecting on her early years in the industry, she said, “As an artist, I have learned so much from television. It gave me opportunities to hone my skills and grow. Coming back has reminded me that no matter how far you go, how much you evolve or how many different mediums you explore, you should never forget your roots.”
With Avika Gor stepping into a regal supernatural role, Apsara is set to introduce viewers to a world of mythology-inspired fantasy, action and emotion when it premieres on Star Plus on October 21.
