Prit Kamani on the sets of Nine to Five: “We kept each other’s energy levels up”

Mumbai: From projects such as Maska and Half CA to films including Hum Chaar and Heer Express, Prit Kamani has explored different stories and characters throughout his acting journey. The actor is now set to headline Rusk Media and Alright TV’s upcoming web series Nine to Five, playing Anuj Kumar, a young man navigating workplace dynamics, friendships and the challenges of pursuing success. The series will be available on the Alright TV YouTube channel.

While the project gave Prit an opportunity to explore a new character, the experience of working with the cast also became one of its most memorable aspects. The actor recalls how the friendly atmosphere on set and the performers’ spontaneous moments often made the shooting process enjoyable, even during demanding schedules.

Talking about the camaraderie among the cast, Prit says, “There were many such moments because all of us were very comfortable with one another. The actors would improvise a lot, so you could never predict exactly what the other person would say.”

The actor admits that improvisation sometimes made it difficult for everyone to maintain a straight face during scenes. He shares, “I also enjoy improvising. Sometimes, someone would say something unexpected, and we would all burst out laughing. But once the shot started, we had to control our laughter and concentrate on the scene.”

However, the shoot was not without its challenges. Long working hours required the cast and crew to remain focused and energised throughout the day. Recalling those experiences, Prit says, “We would shoot for 12 or 15 hours, and sometimes even longer. Naturally, we would get tired, but we kept each other’s energy levels up.”

For Prit, sharing the screen with experienced performers was another important part of the journey. He speaks warmly about working alongside actors such as Rajesh Kumar, Gayatri, Taniya, Aatish Gupta and Manish Anand. According to him, every project provides an opportunity to learn something new, whether by observing another actor’s approach to a scene or discovering a different way to interpret a character.

The actor believes that learning never stops, regardless of how much experience one gains. Every new set brings its own challenges, and the collaborative nature of filmmaking allows performers to grow through their interactions with one another.

In Nine to Five, Prit plays Anuj Kumar, also known as Almost Kumar, a character who repeatedly comes close to achieving success but struggles to secure the top spot. The story explores the pressures of professional life while highlighting the importance of perseverance, friendship and self-belief.

For Prit, the series has been an opportunity to explore a different professional environment while building meaningful relationships with his co-stars. With its relatable workplace situations and emphasis on ambition and personal growth, Nine to Five promises to offer audiences an engaging look at the realities of working life.
