Gonda: District Legal Services Authority Secretary Ankita Singh inspected the Divisional Jail in Gonda on Friday and interacted with inmates to understand their legal cases and grievances. She directed jail officials and defence counsel to ensure effective follow-up for filing appeals for convicted prisoners whose appeals had not yet been submitted.
Singh visited the women’s barracks, enquired about children living with women inmates and reviewed food quality in the kitchen. She also spoke to hospitalised prisoners about their health. A legal literacy camp was organised during the visit.
Singh and advocate Ruchi Modi distributed clothes and gifts to children accompanying women inmates. Jail Superintendent Mrityunjay Kumar Pandey, Jailor Aftab Ansari, Assistant Defence Counsel Brij Lal Tiwari and other officials and staff were present.
