Elderly Woman’s Land Dispute Resolved Following DIG Ashok Kumar’s Intervention in Gonda

Gonda: An elderly woman from Gonda expressed relief and gratitude after her land dispute was resolved following the intervention of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ashok Kumar of the Devipatan Range. The woman, Kalawati, visited the DIG on Tuesday, offered him sweets and blessed him in appreciation of the action taken to address her grievance.

According to the police, Kalawati, wife of Anshuman Tiwari and a resident of Niranjan Tiwari Purwa in Pakwangaon village under Umri Begumganj police station, submitted a complaint to the DIG on August 24, 2026. She alleged that although the land was recorded in her name in official documents, opposing parties were preventing her from taking possession, leaving her unable to carry out construction work.

Taking the complaint seriously, DIG Ashok Kumar directed the Umri Begumganj station in-charge to investigate the matter and ensure its resolution in accordance with the law. He also spoke to the officer over the phone, emphasising the need for prompt action and priority attention to the woman’s grievance.

Following the DIG’s directions, the local police conducted the necessary inquiry and took action to resolve the land-related dispute.

On October 6, Kalawati returned to meet the DIG and informed him that her problem had been resolved. Expressing happiness over the outcome, she offered him sweets, showered blessings on him and thanked him for addressing her complaint. She also appreciated the promptness and sensitivity with which her grievance had been handled.

DIG Ashok Kumar said that taking complaints seriously and ensuring their fair, lawful and time-bound resolution remained his priority.

The case highlights the importance of timely grievance redressal and police intervention in addressing land-related disputes, particularly those affecting vulnerable citizens.
