Bareilly — A special lecture on “Research Directions for Sustainable Future” was organized at MJP Rohilkhand University for pre-Ph.D. coursework students. The keynote speaker was Prof. A.D.N. Bajpai, a renowned economist, academician, researcher, and former Vice Chancellor of four universities, who spoke at length on the role of research in building a sustainable future.
In his lecture, Prof. Bajpai encouraged researchers to identify new directions for research in line with contemporary global challenges. He said research today must not be merely a means of academic achievement but an effective medium for solving problems related to society, the environment, and human welfare. He placed particular emphasis on adopting an interdisciplinary approach and integrating India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern scientific thinking.
Prof. Bajpai identified sustainable development, environmental conservation, judicious use of resources, social responsibility, and human-centred development as key areas for future research. His lecture proved highly informative and inspiring for the pre-Ph.D. scholars present.
On the occasion, Prof. Bajpai was felicitated by the university family with a shawl and memento as a token of honour and respect.
The program was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Anil Kumar Rai. In his presidential address, the Vice Chancellor commended Prof. Bajpai’s multifaceted academic personality and his notable contributions to the field of higher education. He said such lectures by eminent scholars inspire researchers to explore new directions in research, broaden their perspectives, and engage with social concerns. He called for prioritizing originality, a scientific outlook, innovation, and social utility in research.
The welcome address was delivered by Research Director Prof. Alok Srivastava, while the vote of thanks was given by Prof. Naveen Kumar. The event was attended by several university faculty members and researchers, including Prof. Brijesh Kumar, Prof. Sanjay Mishra, Prof. Tulika, Prof. Vijay Bahadur, and Prof. Sanjay Garg. The program was compered by Dr. Abha Trivedi.
