Mumbai: Sony Pal is set to strengthen its programming with its upcoming mythological show Hastinapur Ke Veer, a retelling centred on the formative years of the Pandavas and Kauravas. Produced by Peninsula Pictures, the show will premiere on September 29 and air from Monday to Saturday at 8 pm on Sony Pal.
Set against the backdrop of Hastinapur, the series will explore the childhood years of the characters who would eventually become central figures in the Mahabharata. Along with their early experiences, the narrative will focus on family relationships, sibling bonds, differences, upbringing and the choices that shaped their personalities and destinies.
Rather than concentrating only on familiar episodes from the epic, Hastinapur Ke Veer aims to explore the human emotions behind the legendary characters. The show will examine how family expectations, relationships and circumstances influenced the lives of the young Pandavas and Kauravas before they emerged as renowned warriors.
The series features an ensemble cast, with Toral Rasputra as Kunti, Athar Khan as Yudhishthira, Subhash Khatri as Bhima, Urva Sawaliya as Arjuna, Harit Gabani as Nakula, Mayank Yadav as Sahadeva, Ayudh Bhanushali as Duryodhana and Shaurya Upadhyay as Dushasana. Jiten Lalwani will portray Dronacharya, Chandan Anand will play Shakuni, while Manish Wadhwa will essay the role of Bhishma Pitamah.
The production has been mounted on a large scale, featuring elaborate sets, costumes and production design intended to recreate the grandeur of the era associated with power, honour and destiny.
Toral Rasputra said portraying Kunti has been a particularly meaningful experience, allowing her to explore the character not only as a strong mother but also as a woman dealing with fear, sacrifice and concerns about her children’s future.
Manish Wadhwa said the show goes beyond mythological drama by exploring values and lessons that remain relevant today, particularly the role of parents in shaping children through strong values and upbringing.
Hastinapur Ke Veer premieres September 29 and airs Monday to Saturday at 8 pm on Sony Pal.
