Rae Bareli/Lucknow: A large gathering of devotees attended the seven-day Shri Shiv Mahapuran Katha in Unchahar, Rae Bareli, where Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya participated in the religious programme and listened to the discourse on the glory of Lord Shiva by renowned storyteller Pandit Pradeep Mishra.
The event has been organised by Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Manoj Kumar Pandey. Maurya paid his respects at the Vyas Peeth and sought the blessings of Pandit Pradeep Mishra.
Addressing devotees, Maurya welcomed those attending the religious gathering on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and congratulated Pandey and his family for organising the event. He said the programme was providing a large number of devotees an opportunity to listen to the teachings and glory of Lord Shiva and benefit from satsang.
Maurya said devotion to Lord Shiva, listening to spiritual discourses and the company of saints can bring peace, inner joy and renewed energy to people’s lives. He said remembrance of Mahadev can provide patience, faith and positivity in different circumstances.
Referring to the large gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said that where satsang takes place, devotees gather in large numbers. He described participation in religious and cultural traditions as an expression of India’s cultural consciousness.
He also referred to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and spoke about the spiritual relationship between Lord Ram and Lord Shiva. He said the relationship between the two deities and related spiritual themes were being discussed by Pandit Pradeep Mishra during the discourse.
Maurya said India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity and its connection with its cultural heritage. He emphasised the importance of an environment in which people can follow their religious traditions and participate in spiritual and cultural programmes, while also stressing social harmony and mutual respect.
He urged devotees to benefit from the satsang and incorporate the spiritual messages of the Shiv Mahapuran Katha into their lives. He also expressed his gratitude to Pandey, his family, associates, workers and all those involved in organising the event.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary, other public representatives and a large number of devotees were present at the programme.
