Mumbai: Talent strategist and entertainment industry professional Mohammed Nagaman Lateef has expressed his displeasure over actress Urvashi Rautela’s tricolour-inspired gown, questioning the use of the Indian flag’s colours as a fashion statement.
Nagaman shared a post featuring Rautela in the outfit and strongly criticised the styling. He wrote, “People should ban this kind of dresses and promotions,” while questioning the decision to use the colours of the national flag in a fashion look.

He further expressed his concern over the way national symbols and colours are used during major public events. “The flag which we hoist on Independence Day & Republic Day is now dress for someone just to flaunt,” he wrote, adding that he felt the same colours were being treated casually rather than with the respect associated with the national flag.
Sharing his thoughts, he further said, “The flag is meant to be hoisted high above the pillars, commanding respect and reflecting the dignity it represents. How could a designer place it so low that, instead of appearing proudly elevated, it looks as though it is being dragged along the ground like a broom sweeping the floor?”

He also mentioned Urvashi directly, writing, “Shame on u @urvashirautela. You are fashionable but not above the country and patriotism.” He also questioned the people who supported or encouraged such styling for a major stage.
The post has brought attention to the ongoing debate around fashion, patriotism and the use of national colours in celebrity appearances. While patriotic-inspired fashion has often been seen at public events, Lateef’s comments highlight his view that national symbols and colours should be approached with greater sensitivity and respect.
Nagaman is currently known for his work in the entertainment and talent space. He heads Hoonur across Balaji Motion Pictures, Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Digital, and has been involved in talent acquisition and casting. He is also the founder of the International Iconic Awards, which recognises talent across Bollywood, television, OTT and the influencer space.
