Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has welcomed the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, describing it as a landmark initiative that will strengthen the integrity of the country’s examination system and safeguard the future of millions of young aspirants.
In a statement issued, Maurya said the legislation, passed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, represents a historic step towards ensuring transparent, fair and credible public examinations while protecting the interests of deserving candidates.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the amended law introduces stringent provisions to deal with those involved in paper leaks and other unfair practices. According to him, the legislation provides for the completion of investigations within two months, aims to conclude trials within three months of the filing of the charge sheet, and envisages the establishment of special fast-track courts to ensure swift and strict punishment for offenders.
Maurya said these measures would significantly enhance the transparency, fairness and reliability of the examination process while protecting the interests of hardworking and meritorious students seeking equal opportunities.
Emphasising the government’s commitment to safeguarding the aspirations of young people, he said there would be no leniency for individuals involved in compromising examination integrity or playing with the future of students. Ensuring a level playing field and protecting the careers of talented youth, he added, remains one of the government’s highest priorities.
The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Central Government has been consistently introducing decisive reforms to strengthen examination procedures, improve transparency in recruitment processes and restore public confidence in competitive examinations.
He expressed confidence that the new legislation would reinforce the trust of young aspirants in the examination system while making the country’s recruitment and public examination framework more robust, transparent and accountable.
