Gonda: Chief Development Officer (CDO) Dayanand Prasad chaired a joint meeting of the District Monitoring Committee for the Basic Education Department and the District Nutrition Committee at the Zila Panchayat Auditorium to review the implementation of key education and nutrition programmes across the district.
The meeting focused on assessing the progress of various government schemes and ensuring their effective execution in line with state government priorities. The CDO directed all departments to complete assigned targets in a time-bound manner and ensure that all project-related data is uploaded to the designated government portals within the prescribed deadlines. He warned that delays or negligence in implementation would not be tolerated.
During the review of the Basic Education Department, the CDO examined enrolment figures, student attendance, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, teaching quality, school infrastructure and the overall progress of educational initiatives. He instructed officials to ensure that children receive quality education while all eligible beneficiaries are provided the benefits of government schemes without delay.
To strengthen oversight of residential schools, the CDO directed the District Basic Education Officer, Amit Kumar Singh, to constitute a joint inspection team comprising one female and one male officer for monthly surprise inspections of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls’ Schools. He also instructed that inspection findings be presented in future review meetings through PowerPoint presentations.
The District Nutrition Committee reviewed the functioning of Anganwadi centres, the Nutrition Tracker, distribution of Take-Home Rations (THR), identification and treatment of malnourished and severely malnourished children, and services being provided to pregnant and lactating women.
Emphasising that improving nutritional outcomes remains a top government priority, the CDO called on all departments to work in close coordination to achieve programme targets on schedule. He directed officials to carry out regular field inspections, assess the actual status of schemes at the grassroots level and take corrective measures wherever required. He also stressed the importance of maintaining accurate and updated data to support effective monitoring and decision-making.
The meeting was attended by District Basic Education Officer Amit Kumar Singh, District Programme Officer Sanjay Kumar, all Block Education Officers, Project Officers from the Child Development and Nutrition Department, and officials from other concerned departments.
