Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department will launch a statewide inspection drive of all Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) following reports of alleged violations in vehicle scrapping procedures, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh announced.
The minister said the government has received information from multiple sources indicating that several registered vehicle scrapping centres are not carrying out scrapping operations in accordance with the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021, as well as state government guidelines and prescribed operational standards.
Taking serious note of the reports, Singh directed Transport Department officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation and initiate strict action wherever violations or non-compliance are found. He reiterated that the state government follows a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and that any activity carried out in violation of established rules is unacceptable.
Following the minister’s directions, the Transport Commissioner has ordered a special inspection of all registered vehicle scrapping facilities across Uttar Pradesh. Joint inspection teams comprising the Regional Transport Officer (Administration) and Motor Vehicle Inspector have been constituted in every division to carry out the exercise.

Additional Transport Commissioner (Revenue) R.K. Vishwakarma said the special inspection campaign will be conducted from July 25 to August 10, 2026. During the drive, inspection teams will thoroughly examine scrapping procedures, maintenance of records, and compliance with statutory and environmental standards at every registered facility.
If any violations of rules, government orders, or other irregularities are detected during the inspections, the joint teams will submit detailed factual reports along with supporting documents to the Transport Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, by August 11, 2026.
The Transport Department said the objective of the campaign is to ensure that all registered vehicle scrapping facilities in the state operate with complete transparency and in full compliance with legal and environmental norms. The initiative aims to promote a safe, scientific, and regulation-compliant vehicle scrapping process across Uttar Pradesh.
