Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh MSME, Silk Industry, Khadi and Village Industries Minister  Rakesh Sachan directed the officials of the Silk Department that it is very important to focus on the training of silkworm rearers, the more training is given, the more benefit the farmers associated with this farming will get. For this, farmers should be sent to Karnataka from time to time for training.

Uttar Pradesh Silk Industry Minister  Rakesh Sachan gave this direction while reviewing the works of the Silk Department through video conferencing at Khadi Bhawan.  Rakesh Sachan directed that in view of the need for training of farmers associated with silk farming, a place should be selected for setting up another new training center in the state. It is worth mentioning that at present a training center is already established in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh for the training of silk farmers, where training work is disrupted during the summer season.

Sachan said that there is a need to further increase the production and productivity of silk by connecting more and more farmers with silk farming. At present, the rate of silk production is not as per expectations, silk production in the state should be increased by 50 to 60 tonnes per year. NGOs and FPOs should be associated to reduce the gap between demand and production of silk in the state, the project should also be approved by the Central Silk Board, Government of India.

Rakesh Sachan directed regarding the Silk Samagra Project assisted by the Central Silk Board, Government of India that this scheme should be implemented with transparency and the target set for landless silkworm farmers should be completed as soon as possible and the target of the districts coming under the Eri silk sector should be increased.

Rakesh Sachan said regarding the tree plantation to be done by the Silk Department that along with tree plantation, conservation of the planted trees is very important. He directed that 100% verification of the tree plantation done last year should be done, and also directed to present the survival report in the next meeting. A target of 14 lakh 19 thousand has been set for the Silk Department for tree plantation this year, all its preparations should be done from now onwards. There is a need to increase public participation in tree plantation. Along with this, he also directed in the review meeting that all dues of retired personnel should be settled on the day of retirement.

Principal Secretary Silk  BL Meena, Special Secretary and Director Silk  Sunil Verma, Deputy Director Silk  SP Singh and other officers were also present in the meeting.
